Description no.: 2029802.

Bâti par: Pierre-Jean De Volder (ca. 1850)

  • The former Sint-Niklaas church of Over-Heembeek is a medieval building, which was closed for worship in 1935. In 1940 the church was designated as a protected monument. After a restoration from 1953, a Cultural Center was established in the building in 1960. The old organ is still there. It dates from the mid-nineteenth century and was built by Jean-Pierre de Volder. It is in very bad condition. The Cornet is gone. The Trumpet has been replaced by a Salicional over time.
  • It is striking that in 1837 François Loret would have transferred the old organ from the Sint Amandus Church in Strombeek-Bever to Neder-Over-Heembeek. It would have been placed in September 1837. Possibly this instrument was not very good, and it was soon replaced by De Volder's organ.
