The main organ of the cathedral of Sion was probably built in the years 1784-1786 by an organ builder from the Carlen family. The instrument was rebuilt by Merklin around 1872 and expanded with a swell mechanism. In 1912, the Kuhn company built a largely new organ in the old cases, that were modified. Hans Füglister built the current organ in 1987/1988. Some of the existing pipework from the previous organ was used.
