In 1779 voltooiden England & Russell een nieuw drieklaviers orgel voor de kerk van Saint Michael Queenhithe in Londen. In 1837 breidde John Gray het orgel uit met een vrij pedaal van twee octaven met een 16-voets gedekte register. Tevens werd een koppeling tussen Swell en Great aangelegd en tenslotte is het orgel in een evenredig zwevende temperatuur gestemd. Het kerkgebouw werd in 1876 gesloten en afgebroken. Het orgel is daarna overgeplaatst naar Christ Church in Chelsea.
Abbott & Smith bouwden het om in 1890. De tractuur werd pneumatisch aangelegd en de dispositie werd gemoderniseerd en uitgebreid. Uit het oude orgel waren nu nog dertien registers over. Noel Mander voerde in 1956/1957 een ingrijpende verbouwing uit. De tractuur werd geëlectrificeerd, de opstelling van het orgel werd gewijzigd en de dispositie werd uitgebreid. In 1968 voerde Bishop & Son een revisie uit, waarbij de dispositie ook op enkele punten werd gewijzigd.
Het orgel is afgebroken in 2008, waarna de firma Flentrop een nieuw orgel bouwde, gebruikmakend van delen van het oude orgel, waaronder een deel van het front. In het najaar van 2009 werd het orgel weer in de kerk geplaatst. Het orgel is in gebruik genomen met een concert door Ton Koopman.
