De kerk van Saint Dunstan-in-the-West aan Fleet Street is in de jaren 1829-1833 gebouwd naar een ontwerp van John Shaw op de plaats van de vorige kerk. Er waren plannen het orgel - gebouwd door Abraham Jordan in 1736 - uit de oude kerk over te plaatsen, maar wel in een kas die ontworpen was door John Shaw. Deze plannen zijn niet uitgevoerd. Het orgel heeft korte tijd in de nieuwe kerk gestaan, maar voldeed niet en verkeerde in slechte staat. In de kas van Shaw bouwde Joseph Robson in 1834 een geheele nieuw orgel met 23 stemmen. Mogelijk is pijpwerk uit het oude orgel hergebruikt. Het orgel is in 1876 herbouwd en uitgebreid door G.M. Holdich. Er volgden daarna nog uitbreidingen door Ingram in 1897 en Halliday in 1905. In 1947 bouwde Willis het orgel om naar pneumatische tractuur. Ook werd de intonatie herzien.
