- In 1986 Lance Foy built an organ for the Church of Saint Mary in Penzance. However, most of the material used was taken from the demolished organ of University Church in Oxford, where the Metzler firm installed an entirely new instrument. The history of this organ begins with the building of a new organ in Oxford by Father Bernard Smith in 1675-1676. This organ was placed between the choir and nave of the church.
- At the end of the eighteenth century, John Byfield expanded the organ with a swell. Bishop & Son modified the stop list in the early nineteenth century. Thomas Plowman designed a new front in gothic revival style in 1827. In 1926 the organ was completely rebuilt by Rushworth & Dreaper. The organ was severely damaged by a fire. It was rebuilt in 1950 by Walker & Sons. In building the organ for Penzance, Foy used most of the pipework from the organ and Plowman's front. Consultant was Russell Jory.
