  • The First Presbyterian Church in Marysville, Yuba County, California, was founded in 1850 by William Brier. In 1860, a new church building was dedicated. The company E. & G.G. Hook built a pipe organ for this church in 1869, their opus 491. The instrument had seventeen stops at the time, two manuals and pedal, and hand pumped bellows.
  • In the 1920s the organ was modified by the Toutijan Brothers. It seems that they were no organ builders, but mere technicians. A new detached console by Tellers was installed with electropneumatic action. The instrument itself was unaltered.
  • When the church became too small, a new and larger church was constructed in 1949-1950. The organ was transferred to this still existing church by John Swinford. He installed the instrument at the front of the church hall behind a new not speaking prospect of gold painted dummy pipes. The original organ case was completely removed. In 1960 the organ was overhauled and enlarged with some ranks by the company Schoenstein & Sons. The original specification was severely modified now. Ranks were removed and replaced, and other pipes were relocated inside the organ.
  • Under the direction of David Rothe, Manual Rosales designed a new organ in the style of Hook, using all the still existing material of the original instrument. A new organ case with a prospect in late 19th-century style was constructed, a design of Steuart Goodwin. The now constructed Hook-Rosales organ has 22 stops. The instrument was dedicated during a service on June 14, 1981. Four inauguration concerts were played in July 1981 by Guy Bovet, David Rothe, Philip Manwell and Harald Vogel.
  • In 2018 the organ was sold to the Episcopal Church of Saint John the Baptist in Aptos, California. The company Hupalo & Repasky Pipe Organs transferred the instrument to the new location.
