In 1855 James Eagle supplied a new organ to the Pirie Street Methodist Church in Adelaide. It had 21 stops, divided over two manuals and pedal. The organ was rebuilt and expanded several times: in 1884 by Fincham & Hobday, in 1902 by J.E. Dodd and in 1930 by the Roberts company. The company L.S. Waters & Son carried out an overhaul in 1966, during which the disposition was also changed. The church closed in 1973 and the organ was subsequently moved to the Pilgrim Church. In the following years the organ was considerably enlarged by George Stephens.
