- The Stadtkirche in Glarus was inaugurated in 1864. The first organ was built by Walcker in 1865-1866, and modified by Kuhn in 1905 and 1928. Walcker's organ was damaged in a fire in the church in 1940 and could not be repaired. In 1941 the company Th. Kuhn AG built a new organ. Advisor was Karl Matthaei. The organ was built with slider chests and electric action. It was taken into use on January 4, 1942. During construction, some registers were taken over from the previous organ.
- The organ was overhauled in 1956 by Mathis Orgelbau in 1970. The stop list has been modified slightly in 1970. In 1991 the organ was restored by Mathis. A modern Setzer installation has been installed for the combinations.
