- The organ in the abbey church of Saint-Michel is a particularly well-preserved example of classical French organ building. The instrument was built in 1714 by Jean Boizard. As early as 1715, a fire broke out in the abbey church, but the organ was hardly damaged. The monastery was dismantled during the French Revolution. However, it was sold including the interior to Jean-Louis Lalouette, who protected the organ.
- At the end of the nineteenth century, the Renault company carried out a restoration. In the sixties of the twentieth century it was decided to restore the instrument completely to its original state. Haerpfer-Erman was commissioned, and the organ was disassembled and transferred to the workshop. Thanks to this move, it also survived a major fire in the church in 1971. The reconstruction of the organ was completed in 1983. André Isoir played the inauguration concert on September 24, 1983.
- In the years 1990-1997 Georg Westenfelder performed various activities to keep the instrument in good condition. The keyboards were renewed, as well as the bellows. Finally he tuned the organ to a temperament according to Rameau.
