- The old monastery church of Vreta belonged to a Benedictine monastery, which has long since fallen into ruin. However, after the Reformation, the church was furnished for Protestant worship. Jonas Wistenius built an organ for the church in the years 1745-1747.
- In 1865 a new organ was built by Per Larsson Åkerman. He placed the old organ case with the prospect pipes in the choir of the church. Åkerman & Lund supplied a new twelve-stop organ in 1917, which was placed behind the facade of Wistenius on the original location on the west side of the church.
- In 1941 Olof Hammarberg built a larger organ with 25 stops, reusing the old front and some of the pipework from 1865 and 1917. This work was in poor condition around 1980 and was dismantled. Since then, Wistenius' empty organ case with prospect pipes is standing on the gallery.
