The organ of the old Sankt Nicolai Church in Schmölln dated from before 1659. The original builder is unknown. The instrument was repaired in 1659 by Johann Dietterich, organ builder in Altenburg. The disposition was also noted on this occasion. This stop list is stated here. In 1695 Christoph Donat carried out renovation works. He changed the stop list. Three manual stops were replaced, and he made a new pedal work with four ranks. The organ was lost in a city fire in 1780.
