  • Christ's Hospital School was founded in 1553 by King Edward VI. The school was located in the old buildings of the Convent of the Gray Friars on Newgate Street in London. The school moved to a new building complex at Horsham in Sussex in 1902. Aston Webb and Ingress Bell designed the various buildings, including a large chapel in Gothic-revival style.
  • A four-manual organ was built by Kirkland. In 1931 Rushworth & Dreaper completed a large new five-manual organ for this chapel. The instrument was designed by C.S. Lang and is arranged in four greenhouses in all corners of the chapel. It was dedicated in October 1931. The Kirkland organ was sold to Ringwood Church.
  • The organ was converted and expanded in 1980/1981 by the same company. It was put back into use on February 1, 1981 with a concert by Ivor Keys. During the work, the original Pitman chests have been replaced with new slider chests.
