Destroyed by fire (1944)

  • In the Schlosskirche in Saarbrücken a new organ was built in 1896 by Adrian Spamann. This organ was a typical romantic instrument, but it was not of the best quality. In the 1920s it was decided that new construction was desirable. Cantor organist Karl Rahner recommended that an organ had to be built by the Walcker firm. The specification and the measurements of the pipes were designed by Christhard Mahrenholz, in line with the ideas of the Orgelreform. A remarkable fact was that it was the first organ with mechanical action and slider chests built in Germany since a long time. The organ was put into use in November 1933.
  • Church and organ burned down completely on October 5, 1944, as a result of the impact of an incendiary bomb.
