Built by: Vleugels Orgelmanufactur (2011) - opus 390

  • The previous organ of the Schloßkirche in Chemnitz was built by the company Jehmlich in 1958 and had three manuals and pedal. This organ has not been adequate for a long time, both technically and in terms of its composition. Pipework from the previous Schubert organ, which was damaged during the war, was used during construction, supplemented with new and old pipework from Jehmlich's workshop. In 2004 it was decided to break down the organ, sell it in parts and start recruiting for a new organ. A Johannus-Monarke electronic organ was temporarily placed in the church. In October 2004, the Vleugels company was commissioned to build the new instrument, which acquired a French-romantic character. The old organ was dismantled in July and August 2005. The Schubert pipework still present has been reused for the new organ.
  • Construction started in early 2006. Although the organ was not yet completed, on December 10, 2006, the second Sunday of Advent, a part of the organ was already put into use with a performance by Siegfried Petri, the church's cantor organist. This concerned the Récit and three pedal stops. The organ was completed in 2011. On September 18, 2011 Naji Hakim played the inaugurational concert.
