- The Stahlhuth firm built a new organ for the Sint Martinskerk in Halle in 1886-1887. The organ was built with electro-magnetic action, a novelty in this time. The instrument was placed in a special organ room in the south aisle of the church, above the Lady Chapel. A small part was placed in an organ case built by Lenertz. On April 18, 1887, Alphonse Mailly played the inaugurational concert.
- The organ has been modified radically over time. Initially by Jules Anneessens, before 1914, who adapted the stop list. Jos Stevens expanded the organ considerably in 1962-1963, advised by Flor Peeters. The consequence of this expansion was that there was far too much pipework in the organ rooms, making tuning and maintenance virtually impossible. The organ was dedicated on 8 September 1963, with a concert by Leopold Sluys and Flor Peeters.
- In connection with the restoration of the church building, the organ was partially dismantled in 2010. A restoration of the organ started in 2015 and is carried out by Guido Schumacher. The specification stated here is from 1963.
