- Until 1779 there was an organ in the German Gertrudiskerk in Stockholm, which was built in 1609 by Paul Müller from Spandau, it was enlarged and expanded in several phases. An important stimulus was the organist Andreas Düben, a student of Sweelinck, who became organist in the church in 1625. His son Gustaf, also organist of the church, noted the disposition and some details in 1684.
- In 1779 the instrument was sold to the church of Övertorneå in northern Sweden. After research on this organ from the conservatory in Piteå and the technical university in Luleå, it was decided to build a new organ in the church of Norrfjärden near Piteå according to the historical design of the organ from Övertorneå, as it had been in 1684. The Grönlund organ factory from Gammelstad carried out the work, which resulted in the inauguration of a new organ in historical style in 1997.
- The church board of the Getrudis-Kirche then became interested in this organ and commissioned Grönlund to make an exact copy of the original instrument for their church, which was placed at the original location on the west side of the church. It was inaugurated on May 9, 2004 with a concert by Harald Vogel, Michael Dierks and Hans-Ola Ericsson. The starting point for the construction was the disposition from 1684.
