  • In 1915, paper manufacturer Clemens Haindl donated a large organ to the city of Augsburg. The instrument was built by the Steinmeyer firm and was placed in the so-called Ludwigsbau of the Stadthalle. The Ludwigsbau was demolished in the early 1960s. On the initiative of Wolfgang Mell, the organ was built in 1966 in the Herz Jesukirche in Augsburg-Pfersee, a church building from 1910. The prospect was adapted for the new room.
  • A major restoration was necessary after a few decades. Despite efforts by Thomas Friese to preserve the organ, the parish council decided to have a new organ built by the Sandtner firm. The Steinmeyer organ was demolished in 1994. Just before the demolition, Friese recorded a CD on the organ. A large part of the pipework was used by the Aquincum company for the construction of a new organ for Szombathely Cathedral, which was opened in 1999.
