  • In 1775 the Moretus family donated an organ to the Brigittine Fathers in Hoboken. The organ was built by Jean-Baptiste Feugère and was completed in 1780. In 1785 the monastery was closed by the Austrians, and the organ was put up for sale. Feugère then transferred it to the Sint Martinuskerk in Kontich. The instrument remained unchanged until 1840. In that year everything was modified for the first time by the company Smet & Vermeersch. Other renovations followed in 1844, 1848 and 1853, after which only the main case remained of the original instrument.
  • Smet-Vermeersch extended the organ with a positive and an independent pedal. The organ remained unchanged for a long time after this. After the Second World War it still functioned, but soon it began to decay and eventually was no playable anymore.
  • In 1989 a restoration started by Jean-Pierre Draps, in collaboration with Gerd Van Buuren for voicing the pipes. Because the church building was renovated and expanded between 1918 and 1940, the original location of the organ was not a good one anymore. It was decided to relocate the organ within the church to a new organ gallery above the current main entrance.
