- The first Propsteikirche in Leipzig was built on Rudolphstraße in 1847. The church was dedicated to the Holy Dreifaltigkeit and was given the name Trinitatiskirche. The building was completely destroyed by a number of bombings in the years 1943-1945. After the war, the parish used the old university church (Sankt Pauli) as temporary accommodation. It was not allowed to rebuilt the old church itself. On May 23, 1968, the last church service took place in the Universitätskirche, which was blown up a week later. The Lutherkirche could now be used. Eventually, a piece of land was assigned to Emil-Fuchs-Straße for the construction of a new parish church, which could be dedicated on November 21, 1982. In 1986 an organ was ordered at Alexander Schuke, that was dedicated in early 1987.
- In 2010 the construction of a completely new church was started, close to the city center.
