  • In the years 1732-1740 Christian Gottblieb Richter, organ builder in Stettin, built a new organ for the Jakobikirche in Stralsund. A large organ case was made by Michael Müller. Parts of the organ case of the previous organ, dating from 1662, were reused. The organ was partially rebuilt and enlarged in 1778-1779 by Ernst Julius Marx. In the years 1870-1877, Friedrich Albert Mehmel built a new organ in Müller's case.
  • In 1943 large parts of the organ were dismantled and stored, including the pipes and some large statues. The organ was not rebuilt after the war and the church fell out of use. Until 1993, most of the material was stored behind the altar. Much has also disappeared. Plans for a possible rebuilding started in 1999. The church building has been used as a warehouse for decades. Since 1996 the church has been used as a Kulturkirche.
  • The organ case was restored in 2012. Most of the original material had disappeared. A new organ was built by Kristian Wegscheider in 2019-2020. The inauguration is planned for September 19, 2020.
