- The organ of the Catholic Heilig-Kreuz-Münster in Schwäbisch Gmünd was built in 1983 by the Klais company. It stands behind a historic front by Johann Michael Maucher from 1688, funded from the estate of Mayor Johann Burkhardt Mössnang. Paul Prescher built an organ behind this front. The old instrument was lost when the Weigle firm built a new romantic organ in the organ case in 1877/1878.
- Due to the poor condition of this work and the fact that they actually wanted a larger organ, it was decided to have Klais build a completely new organ, preserving the historis organ case. Klais designed a three-manual organ with 54 stops. Also a number of ranks was taken from the Weigle organ. Consultant was Hubert Beck. The instrument was dedicated on September 25, 1983.
- Around 1998 the organ was expanded with a Röhrenglockenspiel with 25 bells. In 2009 Klais performed an overhaul. Especially the electrical part of the organ has been renovated. The disposition of the Hauptwerk was also expanded with a Portunalflöte 8'. Stephan Beck was the consultant for the work.
