• The Catharinakerk in Ribe dates from the early thirteenth century. In 1885 Frederik Nielsen built an organ for this church. After a major restoration of the church building, the firm Marcussen & Søn built a new three-manual organ with 27 stops in Nielsen's case in 1932, which was expanded with a positive organ.
  
• The instrument was replaced in 1979 by a new organ from Bruno Christensen & Sønner. Older pipes, from the previous organ, and the old organ case were used in the construction. The organ has mechanical key action with slider chests, except for the Svelleværk, which stands on a cone chest and has electro-pneumatic action.
  
• In 2009 the organ was cleaned by the Christensen company, and the instrument was partly revoiced.
