Year | Builder | Opus | Activity | 1756 | Romanus Benedikt Nollet | new organ | 1823 | Gebrüder Stumm | restoration and enlargement | 1859 | H.W. Breidenfeld & Söhne | rebuild | 1934 | Klais Orgelbau | 817 | rebuild | 1991 | Klais Orgelbau | 1700 | new organ in old case |
- The baroque Sankt Paulinkirche in Trier was built in the years 1747-1756 after a design by Balthasar Neumann. Neumann also designed the entire interior, including the beautiful organ facade, in collaboration with Johannes Seitz. Romanus Nollet placed a two-manual organ with independent pedal behind this prospect. The organ was overhauled and modified in 1823 by the Gebrüder Stumm and in 1859 by H.W. Breidenfeld & Söhne. Breidenfeld installed new wind chests.
- The Klais company completely rebuilt the organ in 1934 and expanded it with a Schwellwerk on a cone chest. The organ now had 42 stops. In 1991 Klais constructed a new organ using much of the existing material. The Breidenfeld windchests from 1858 were re-installed, the pedal was given a new slider chest, but the Schwellwerk from 1934 was completely taken over, including the action and the wind chest, under the protection of the Heritage Protection. The design of the renewed organ was made by Hans-Gerhard Klais and Hans Wolfgang Theobald.
