- In 1909-1911 Johannes Klais built a large organ with four manuals and free pedal on the west side of the Sankt Elisabethkirche in Bonn. The organ has been constructed with pneumatic action and cone chests. The organ case and the prospect were designed by the church's architect, Ludwig Becker. The wood carvings are by Georg Busch. The fourth manual was designed as Fernwerk, with this division set up in the choir of the church, where it would also be made playable as an independent choir organ with two manuals and pedal. Partly due to a lack of money, the choir organ was not built then. A remarkable fact is that the organ was played by Louis Vierne in December 1924.
- In 1989 Hans Gerd Klais restored the main organ and also built the choir organ according to the original plans of his grandfather. Much of the material used for construction came from the stock of old Klais materials in the workshop. Restoration and construction was completed in 1990. The organ is one of the few large German romantic organs that have been preserved in the Rhineland.
- The organ was expanded in 2002 with an electronic Setzer Installation. The work was carried out by the Klais firm on the advice of Winfried Krane.
