  • Gottfried Silbermann built a new organ from 1728-1730 for the church of Glachau, which was rebuilt after a city fire in 1712. Christian Gottlob and Gotthold Heinrich Donati repaired the instrument in 1784, but made no modifications. In 1816 Christian Gottlob Steinmüller proposed various activities, including tuning the organ in an equal temperament. The proposals were not carried out, but twenty years later, in 1836, Steinmüller was still given the opportunity to carry out his plans. It meant that quite a number of stopswere replaced: the Cymbel of the Hauptwerk and the Sesquialtera and the Vox Humana of the Oberwerk were replaced by a Viola da Gamba 8', a Salicet 4' and a Flauto Traverso 8'. The temperament of the organ was modified to equal. Silbermann's old Vox Humana was installed in the organ of the Protestant Hofkirche in Dresden.
  • In 1891, Richard Kreutzbach replaced the three stop from 1836 with a new Viola da Gamba 8', an Aeoline 8' and a Vox Humana 8'. He also renewed the Trumpet of the pedal. In 1924 the organ received an electric wind machine, installed by Jehmlich. Jehmlich restored the organ in 1936. In doing so, they lowered the pitch by a semitone by shifting the mechanics, expanded the pedal compass to f' (30 keys) and installed three new stops: a Cymbel, a Sesquialtera and an Octavebass 4'. All the new pipework was installed on pneumatic windchests, including the extension of the pedal. The tremulant was removed because the register drawer was required for the new manual coupler. Finally, they adapted the voicing of the Viola di Gamba and the Aeoline from 1891.
  • After the Second World War, it was decided to replace the two strings from 1891 with more suitable stops for a Silbermann organ. Hans Michel placed a Quinte 5 1/3' on the Hauptwerk and a Terz 1 3/5' on the Oberwerk in 1949. Finally, in 1952/1953, during a major restoration by the firm Jehmlich, the original stoplist was largely restored. However, the extension of the pedal size had been retained, the temperament was not reconstruced, and the Octavenbass 4' of the pedal had not been removed.
  • In 1997/1998 the Eule company restored the organ again. Now the last deviations from the original condition were undone. The bellows were reconstructed, as well as the claviature, the range of manuals and pedal and the intonation based on other Silbermann organs. More than 1,200 pipes were made new according to Silbermann's original design.
