  • The Mutin organ in the Basilica of the Blessed Sacrament in Buenos Aires, Argentina was a gift from the wealthy widow Mercedes Anchorena. For this occasion she traveled to Paris in person to view and listen to the work of Charles Mutin. In 1912 the instrument was ready in the workshop in Paris, after which it was shipped to Argentina. In 1915 it could be inaugurated with a concert by the French organist Jules Beyer. On request - without preparation and by heart - he played the Toccata from the 5th Symphony of Widor.
  • As far as is known, the organ has remained unchanged in terms of composition. In 1955, the Italian firm Tamburini installed a new electric console. The fate of the original Mutin console is unknown. Tamburini took the opportunity to change the order of the keyboards. The Positif Expressif was now playable from the first manual, the Grand Orgue from the second. In addition, a large number of playing aids were installed on request. In addition to the usual sub and super octave couples, a 'Quint sub couple' is available for the pedal, which acoustically results in a 32-foot sounding stop. Composed Cornets are also available for the Récit and Positif at the touch of a button. Finally, the organ has two complete chimes, playable from Pédale and Solo. The organ is currently in excellent condition.
