- The widow A.W. Verhoef-Smit donated a new organ to the Oud-Katholieke Kerk (Old Catholic Church) in Oudewater in 1885. The church building was inaugurated in 1881. The new organ was built by J.F. Witte and was dedicated on September 19, 1886. It had two empty drawknobs with the inscription 'Tacet'. The history of the organ begins quietly, but in 1933 a slow but certain demise begins. In that year it was exchanged with the Old Catholic Church in Den Helder for an Alexandre harmonium. Sanders transferred the organ and placed it entirely in a swell box.
- In 1942, during the occupation, the Germans had Den Helder partly demolished, and the Old Catholic Church had to be given up. The organ was disassembled and stored in the Old Catholic Church of Haarlem. However, the organ case had been lost. Ten years later Sanders rebuilt the organ in the church of Haarlem in a new case. The action was electrified by him. The instrument was put back into service on May 1, 1953. It now remained in use until 1973, when a historic residence organ made by Künckel could be purchased. The Witte organ was then transferred to the Maranatha Chapel of the Hersteld Apostolische Gemeente in Beverwijk. The stops Flute 4'and Flute 2' were no longer present. These were used in the restoration of the Witte organ of the Hervormde Kerk (Dutch Reformed Church) in Doorn.
- The organ was put up for sale in September 2005. It was sold to Mr. Verkerk in Woudenberg. In 2020 the organ was sold to Orgelmakerij Steendam. Little is left of the original instrument.
- The stop list mentioned here is the original stop list from 1886.
