In 1988, the firma S. de Wit built a Chamadron in the outer wall of the Havelte tower. The instrument was designed by Cornelis Roubos, organist in Zweeloo. He also paid for it himself, and since 1988 has been playing the organ every Saturday from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The instrument was completely overhauled and improved in 1996. On June 15, 1996 it was inaugurated again with a work specially composed for this occasion by Johann Th. Lemckert.
