Frederick Wincott Jardine was born on January 2, 1822, the son of Joseph Gardine (1791-1867), older brother of the organ builder George Jardine. In 1837, George emigrated to the United States, and Frederick came with him. But in 1842 he returned to London, and has continued to work in England ever since. He later settled in Manchester. He died on December 5, 1907.
