Orgelmaker uit Noordduitsland. Geboren in Goslar in 1663 vestigde hij zich in 1695 definitief in Aurich. Van hieruit bouwde hij o.a. orgels in Petkum, Bunde, Pilsum en Weene. In 1841 is hij overleden. Grotian was na 1700 nauwelijks nog als orgelmaker actief.
