John Hinners founded an organ factory in Pekin, Illinois, in 1879 to build harmoniums. In 1886, Albertsen joined as a partner, after which the firm was renamed Hinners & Albertsen Organ Company. The first pipe organ was built in 1890. After Albertsen's departure in 1902, John Hinners continued under the name Hinners Organ Company. After his death in 1906, his son Arthur continued the business from 1912 to 1936.
