Johann Baptist Schefold was born on March 20, 1843 in Biberach as the son of the organ builder Konrad Schefold (1804-1868). He worked at Walcker for a while, but took over his father's workshop in 1868. Between 1868 and 1891 he built several new organs, mainly in the Rheinpfalz. He died on August 19, 1901. His son Adolf continued the company until his own death in 1905. Adolf's work was not very good, and he did not build any new organs. In 1906 Albert Reiser bought the company.
