Franz Xaver Späth was born on November 22, 1859, the son of the organ maker Alois Späth. After his death on July 7, 1877, Franz Xaver took over the company. Franz Xaver had learned the trade from his father, but he also worked for Georg Mayer in 1876 and 1877. The workshop in Ennetach did not have enough work, so in the years 1877-1882 he also worked for Benz, Mönch, Klingler and Branmann. In 1882 he started his own company again under his own name. In 1894 his brother Albert (Ennetach, February 15, 1866 - Ennetach, March 8, 1948) joined the company, which was now called Gebrüder Späth. Franz Xaver died on October 5, 1940 in Ennetach.
