Jacob Estey (1814-1890) learned the plumbing trade from an uncle. Until 1855 he worked with his own plumbing company. However, in that year he started manufacturing the so-called 'Cottage Organ'. In 1860 his son-in-law Levi K. Fuller became a partner. After Jacob Estey's death on April 15, 1890, his nephew Julius J. Estey continued the company.
