In 1936, Steinmeyer built a new organ for the Kirchenmusikalisches Institut of the University of Erlangen. The organ, opus 1608, has three manuals and pedal. It was rebuilt and modified by the same company in 1963-1964.
In 1986 the instrument was sold to the Pauluskirche in Mannheim, and replaced by a new organ of Peter Vier. The organ was slightly modified during the transfer to Mannheim.
