  • On the corner of Madison Avenue and 44th Street the second church of Saint Bartholomew in New York was erected in the years 1872-1876. This church was a design of James Renwick jr. It replaced the first church, located on Lafayette Place and built in 1835-1836. In this church there was an organ by Henry Erben from 1839, having 24 stops. The brothers Odell built a new organ for the new church in 1872, opus 112 of the firm. This instrument had 40 stops, three manuals with combined mechanical and pneumatic action. The tubular-pneumatic action was only used for the bass octave of the organ. The organ was standing on the gallery of the church.
  • In 1893 the company of George S. Hutchings got the order to build a new Chancel Organ and rebuild the Gallery Organ. This rebuild, opus 329 of the firm, was completed at the end of the year. Hutchings also installed a central console (opus 402) that connected both organs via electric action, so that both organs could be placed from one console.
  • In 1917 a new church, the third Saint Bartholomew Church was erected on Park Street Avenue, and a new organ was built for this church bij Ernest M. Skinner.
