The Church of the Ascension in Salford was built in 1869. The building was almost completely destroyed by a fire on the night of 12–13 February 2017. It contained an organ by Jardine & Co., which was lost. This organ was inaugurated on 11th May 1872 with a concert by Mr C.H. Shepherd, organist from Newcastle-on-Tyne.
