Gerhard Kuhn built a new organ for the Sankt Ludwigkirche in Frankenthal in 1986-1988. It is a three-manual organ with 46 registers. A number of ranks have been taken over from the previous organ. This was built in 1965 by Wolfgang Scherpf, using stops by Frosch (1840) and Steinmeyer (1883) from the old organ of the Domkirche in Speyer. Some registers had not yet been installed during the inauguration. The new organ was dedicated on October 16, 1988.
