  • In 1708, Charles Quarles built a two-manual organ for Pembroke College Chapel in Cambridge. It has long been assumed that the organ was a work of (Father) Bernard Smith. In the course of time, the instrument was almost completely renewed, so that only five stops of the original organ remained. In 1902 the organ was rebuilt by Norman & Beard. In 1954 Hill, Norman & Beard electrified the action. The instrument was disassembled in 1977.
  • In 1980 Noel Mander built a new mechanical instrument with an independent pedal in the historic organ case. This case had also been enlarged and modified over time. The original situation was reconstructed, the specification from 1708 was used for the new instrument and the independent pedal was placed in a separate case behind the old organ case. The consultant for the work was Cecil Clutton.
