The Grote- of Sint Laurenskerk in Rotterdam was almost completely destroyed on May 14, 1940 by bombings. After the war, rebuilding soon began. After the completion of the church's choir, it was decided to place a small organ here. In the Christian Reformed Church in Bunschoten there was an antique eighteenth century organ case, originating from a shelter church in Amsterdam. Christian Vater is considered as a builder. The organ was originally built for the Old Catholic church "De Ooyevaar" on the Barndesteeg in Amsterdam. After a renovation by Knipscheer in 1864, the instrument ended up in Bunschoten in 1914. Here, they wanted a new organ in this church so that the old case could be placed in Rotterdam. Parts of the old interior have been re-used in the construction of the new De Koff organ in Bunschoten. The Marcussen company built a new interior and a lower case for the organ, consisting of one manual and an attached pedal.
